THORNHILL - The third annual Skate with Daniel will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Thornhill Community Centre West Arena located at 7755 Bayview Avenue, north of Steeles. Funds raised will support the Daniel Bertoia Family Endowment Fund and b.r.a.i.n.child at the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation for brain tumour research.

The Miliucci Family, friends of Daniel, planted an oak tree on the grounds of his high school, De La Salle 'Oaklands' College. The family had a stone placed in front of the tree in Daniel's memory. It is located along the east side of Avenue Road, south of St. Clair Avenue.
Representatives of Skate with Daniel, SickKids, b.r.a.i.n.child and Edmonton Oiler, Andrew Cogliano attended a cheque ceremony at SickKids hospital in which a cheque was presented to SickKids Foundation, the Princess Margaret Hospital and b.r.a.i.n.child for the amount of $47, 511.11.
Durabond Products Limited team support Skate with Daniel at Mosport International Raceway. Race car driver Andre Rapone sported the Skate with Daniel logo on his race car to create awareness.
